SPIC regards clean energy development as its development strategy. In 2014, SPIC increased investment in environmental protection in areas of energy conservation and consumption reduction, pollutants emission control, eco-system protection and circular economy development. In the same year, a total of RMB 5.5 billion was invested in environmental protection with 48.26% of coal-fired units retrofitted with De-SOx and De-NOx device, achieving 173,300 tons of NOx emission reduction, 107,600 tons of SOx emission reduction and 3.77 g/kWh of coal consumption reduction compared to the same period of the previous year.
