Chairman Qian Zhimin Visits Serbia and Hungary for Work Exchanges

Mr. Qian Zhimin, Chairman of SPIC, led a delegation to visit Serbia and Hungary for work exchanges from November 22 to 27, local time.

Serbia

On November 22, local time, Chairman Qian visited Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy, in Belgrade, Serbia. During their in-depth discussions about renewable energy cooperation, both sides vowed to strengthen communication and cooperation in clean energy development, green power to X, and other areas building on their collaboration on the Black Peak wind power project, aiming to assist in Serbia’s transformation to clean and low-carbon energy and achieve win-win cooperation and common development.

Chairman Qian also visited Li Ming, Chinese ambassador to Serbia, the same day. They expressed the shared hope that SPIC would fully leverage its industrial strengths and invest more in renewable energy in Serbia to boost the country’s economic growth and green development and make new contributions to enhancing China-Serbia relations and promoting high-quality BRI cooperation.

Hungary

On November 23, local time, Chairman Qian met with Attila Steiner, Hungarian State Secretary for Energy and Climate Policy in the Ministry of Energy, in Budapest, Hungary. During their talks about renewable energy cooperation, both sides expressed the hope to forge an energy partnership, whereby they will improve energy storage technology and its applications, promote local satisfaction of users’ power demand and micro-grid construction, and explore the production and usage of green hydrogen and its derivatives, in the joint endeavor to push Hungary’s green energy transformation.

While in Budapest, Chairman Qian also visited Gong Tao, Chinese ambassador to Hungary. They both hoped that SPIC, giving full play to its technological and innovative advantages, would invest more in such areas as new energy, energy storage, and hydrogen energy in Hungary, and contribute to stronger China-Hungary relations and high-quality BRI cooperation.

When in Hungary, Chairman Qian paid a visit to MOL Group, where he learned how the company’s integrated smart building works, held talks with its executives on the prospects of new energy and hydrogen energy, and reached a consensus on their future cooperation. Both sides agreed to establish a communication and cooperation mechanism, and jointly explore the new energy and hydrogen energy market in Hungary for complementarity and mutual benefits.

Victor 132 MW PV Project

On November 26, local time, Chairman Qian inspected the Victor 132 MW PV Project undertaken by Shanghai Electric Power Co., Ltd. of SPIC in Hungary and witnessed its synchronization at full capacity. As SPIC’s first project in Hungary, the Victor Project is of great importance for further tapping the Hungarian energy market and exploring the energy market in Central and Eastern Europe, said Qian. He asked Shanghai Electric Power to take this as a starting point and a stepping stone, double down on market expansion, and achieve a scale effect. He underscored the importance of tapping the potential of new energy and hydrogen energy in Hungary, so as to promote SPIC’s image as a green energy developer and assist in Hungary’s green energy transformation.

Li Xuedong, SPIC's chief coordinating officer for international cooperation, and officials from SPIC Department of Strategy and Planning, Department of International Business, and Shanghai Electric Power Co., Ltd. were present at the above activities.
