SPIC Signed 30-year Concession Agreement of Sao Simao HPP, Brazil

On November 10 (2:30 p.m) (local time of Brasilia),UHE   Energia S.A.. (Brazil) under SPICOI signed the 30-year concession agreement of HPP, Brazil, with ANEEL. It is another major milestone after SPIC has participated in the concession  right bidding project organized by the Brazilian government and won the bidding successfully.


In April 2017, the Brazilian federal government announced that it will organize the concession right bidding of four hydropower assets in the next half year. Based on the strategic layout and planning for development in Brazil and combined with the synergy of its existing assets in Brazil, SPICOI won the bidding of HPP, the largest one in four power stations, at the lowest premium by taking full advantage of the experience of Brazilian team under Pacific Hydro in local assets, law and business environment.


Located in Parnaíba River basin, Parana, St Victoria City, Minas Gerais State, HPP, Brazil, is in the load center of Brazil, with a total installed capacity of 1,710 MW. It is the ninth largest hydropower station in Brazil. The previous concession period was run by CEMIG, a state owned subsidiary in Minas Gerais State, Brazil.


Mr. Rufino, the Director of ANEEL, attended the signing ceremony, saying in his speech that the bidding competition is fierce and the bid-winning enterprise is of confidence in the Brazilian electricity market and its future development in Brazil. And ANEEL will implement the agreement according to law, keep the promises, continue to commit to promoting the transparency and competition of the electricity market and welcome enterprises to participate in future project development.
