SPIC chairman Wang Binghua inspected an AP1000 nuclear plant in Sanmen, East China’s Zhejiang province on May 26. It is a showcase project to the worldwide nuclear power industry which will probably trigger a new round of construction.

In 2006, China decided to introduce the Gen III nuclear power technology AP1000 from Westinghouse Electric Corporation of the United States and build two AP1000 units each at Sanmen, and Haiyang, Shandong province.
