In 2010, CPI’s net coal consumption was reduced by 11.48g/kWh, the largest decline since the establishment of CPI. That is to say, CPI saved 2.42 million ton standard coal, more than 10% of the goal for 1000 enterprises to conserve 20 million ton standard coal nationwide, equivalent to saving fuel cost of RMB 1.5 billion. CPI shut down small thermal power plants of 2010MW, 20% of the national goal to shut down 10000MW. Energy consumption per RMB10000 industrial added value was reduced by 8%. CPI invested RMB 1 billion on retrofit projects of environmental facilities in existing coal-fired units, including FGD, dust-removal and waste water treatment. Uprating of FGD and dust-removal facilities were carried out on 20 units, FGD facility was installed in all thermal units of 100MW or above. As a result, apart from small thermal units that were shut down as planned, FGD facility was installed in all other thermal units of CPI.
