CPI has continuously promoted the technical upgrading for energy conservation and environmental protection. Since its founding, CPI has completed the upgrading of turbine throughflow part of 26 thermal units, averaging a reduced coal consumption of about 10g/KWh and saving 323,000 tons of standard coal per year; invested accumulatively RMB 3.32 billion to complete the desulphurization upgrading of 48 units, totaling 12.01GW and reducing 373,400 tons of SO₂ emission per year.

  

When CPI was founded, it has 2 operating units of 150MW with desulphurization equipment, accounting for 0.9% of the total coal-fired units at the same time. By the end of 2008, it has 96 operating units of 27245MW with desulphurization equipment, accounting for 81.1% of the total coal-fired units, 80.2% higher than when CPI was founded.
