Chairman Wang Binghua Visits Shanghai Electric Power EMBA Electricity Production in Turkey

    From October 9 to 12, Mr. Wang Binghua, Chairman of State Power Investment Corporation (“SPIC”) made a visit to the Turkey-based EMBA Electricity Production Co. Inc. (“EMBA”), a company subordinate to Shanghai Electric Power, met high-level government officials of the local where EMBA Hunutlu Plant is located and conducted site visit to the project site.

 

 

    At EMBA Headquarters in Istanbul, work reports were presented to Mr. Wang Binghua who gave positive evaluation on what EMBA did in the course of project development. He pointed out that EMBA must carry out business activities strictly in accordance with applicable laws, enable stakeholders to maximize their advantages of resources, keep good relations with the local government, enterprises and people, and ensure the project run safely, reliably, economically and environmental friendly.

 

 

    During his visit, Mr. Wang Binghua met the Mayor of Adana City where Hunutlu Plant is located and the Mayor of Yumurtalik City. Mr. Wang Binghua expressed his gratefulness for the supports given by the local government in the project development process, and said that the project will enable local human and material resources be utilized to maximum in the construction and operation process, and assume tax-paying responsibilities to make contributions to the local economic and social development.

 

 

    Mr. Wang Binghua also made a trip to Hunutlu project site and had thorough discussions with EBMA concerning project design and construction there.

 

    Mr. Wang Shudong, Assistant to General Manager of SPIC together with officers from Department of International Business of SPIC, Shanghai Electric Power and State Nuclear Electric Power Planning Design & Research Institute accompanied Mr. Wang Binghua for this visit.

 

   EMBA was established by Shanghai Electric Power (EMBA’s controlling stakeholder) in November 2013, which is responsible for investment and development of 2 ultra-supercritical coal-fired electric generating plants with a total installed capacity of 660 MW in Hunutlu of Turkey. The project was approved with construction and production in July 2015 and has started its construction preparation phase.
