State Power Investment Corporation Exhibits CAP1400 at the 23rd World Energy Congress

 President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, President Vladimir Putin of Russia, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, President Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela, around 10,000 delegates including more than 50 government ministers worldwide and above 500 executives from energy enterprises attended the 23rd World Energy Congress, which took place in Istanbul, Turkey between October 9 and 13, 2016 to discuss how to tackle the global energy challenges and other issues facing the future.

 

 

Chairman Wang Binghua, invited by Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, attended the “Tomorrow’s Nuclear and Today’s Realities” session of the Congress, and shared his views concerning trends, prospects, challenges and risks of nuclear power development.

 

 

During the Congress, Mr. Wang also held a brief talk with Turkish Energy Minister Berat Albayrak.

 

  Invited by Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, SPIC and many world-leading energy enterprises made their presence at the Expo, in which SPIC highlighted the nuclear power technology CAP1400 from the aspects of R&D achievements, technological superiority and progress of its pilot project. As the world’s largest passive pressurized water reactor technology, CAP1400 attracted great attention from countries intending to develop nuclear power, and has made significant progress in markets such as Turkey and South Africa. Chinese and Turkish energy authorities entered into a memorandum of understanding on civil nuclear cooperation during the G20 Energy Ministerial Meeting in June 2016. Currently, State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation and Westinghouse Electric Corporation are jointly working on project development in Turkey, and the project proposal is pending Turkish government approval.

 

 

  During the four-day exhibition, the booth of SPIC attracted great attention from the Congress delegates including Minister Khalid al-Falih of Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia, who were highly interested in the cutting edges and safety features of CAP1400 and favorable to the development prospect of the technology.

 

 

  The World Energy Congress is the triennial flagship event by the World Energy Council, which brings together senior executives, government officials and influential experts and scholars in the field of world energy, and is a top global gathering in the energy field.
