On August 19, 2016, Chairman Wang Binghua, Vice President Xia Zhong and Assistant President Wang Shudong of SPIC met Myanmar Minister U Pe Zin Tun of Electricity and Energy at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. The two sides candidly exchanged their views on investigation work on hydropower projects on the upstream Ayeyawady River of Myanmar.

Mr. Wang noted that SPIC supports Myanmar Government’s decision to set up the Investigation Commission for the Ayeyawady-Myitsone Upstream River Basin Hydropower Projects, and will actively assist the investigation work. Minister U Pe Zin Tun said that the Investigation Commission will present a fair and transparent investigation report in light of the China–Myanmar friendship and mutual benefits.

Executives from Department of International Business of SPIC and Upstream Ayeyawady Confluence Basin Hydropower Co. also attended the meeting.
