The construction of Hunutru Coal-Fired Power Plant in Turkey officially started on July 16.

The project, invested and developed by Shanghai Electric Power Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC), is designed to build two ultra-supercritical coal-fired electricity generation units with 660 Megawatts each.

Along with the construction, the Hunutru power plant will be installed with flue gas desulfurization and SCR denitrification equipment, which will enable the power plant to meet EU standards in energy efficiency and emission.

It will take 48 months to finish the construction. When going into operation, the project is expected to run over 6,500 hours and generate electricity of 8.58 billion kilowatt hours a year. The total investment of the project is approximately US $1.7 billion.
