SPIC Unveils Intelligent System to Operate Wind Farms

An intelligent wind farm management and control system based on Internet technology has been unveiled by State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC) at the 5th International Conference Energy & Meteorology (ICEM 2018) in Shanghai on May 22.

The system, with the name of Yufeng, is researched and developed by SPIC and has been applied in the development, construction and operation of wind farms. It integrates SPIC’s expertise of the new energy industry with the cutting-edge technologies in weather forecast, integrated functions such as wind resource assessment, weather forecast for power service and wind farm control optimization. At present, the system has been used to operate two wind farms of SPIC, which has effectively improved the loading capacity, unit status detection, monitoring level and accuracy of power forecast.

“Yufeng System is a successful product based on the integration of technologies of energy development, Internet, big data and meteorology,” said Xia Zhong, Deputy General Manager of SPIC, at the opening ceremony of ICEM 2018.

SPIC will continue to research and develop intelligent technologies to promote the upgrade of renewable energy industry in the future, Xia said.

The ICEM 2018 is the first such event held in China. The theme of the Conference is Renewable Energy and the Environment.

As one of China’s largest energy companies, SPIC has shifted its focus to technology innovation and clean energy. In recent years, the company has worked hard to expand business of renewable energy and taken practical actions to promote the balance among the company growth, environmental protection and social responsibility.

The International Conference Energy & Meteorology, organized by the World Energy and Meteorology Council, has become a global professional platform for energy companies and meteorological institutes and scientists to exchange ideas and share information since it was initiated in 2011. This is the first time for the Conference being held in China. The event serves as an international platform to promote exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign academia and business circles in the field of new energy and meteorology.
