Qian Zhimin Met with Zaldivar, the President of the Senate of Chile
On January 30, Chairman Qian Zhimin met with Zaldivar, the President of the Senate of Chile, at the SPIC Beijing headquarters.
Chairman Qian said that Chile is an important partner of China in Latin America. In 2016, President Xi Jinping paid a successful visit to Chile and pushed the bilateral relation to a new height. SPIC attaches great importance to the development of clean energy investment in Chile, and is seeking more opportunities for multi-area cooperation with Chile.
President Zaldivar put that he is deeply impressed by the scale and technological capabilities of SPIC, and hoped that SPIC can further increase its investment in the field of clean energy in Chile. The Chilean government will create a stable policy environment, and help boost the development of SPIC in Latin America.
In 2016, SPIC successfully entered the clean energy market in Chile through the acquisition of Pacific Hydro. With 490 MW hydropower under operation, 80 MW wind power under construction and 480 MW greenfield project pipeline, SPIC is currently the largest Chinese enterprise with direct investment in Chile.
