On January 14, 2018, the coal port of Vinh TanPower Company 1 (VTPC1)BOT Project, invested by China Power International Holding (CPIH), welcomed its first coal carrier: the 7,600-tonne Hanoi.
After nearly four hours of preparation, the ship unloader of the port successfully grabbed the first bucket of coal at 12:10 p.m., Beijing Time, marking the formal operation of the port and a successful launch of its coal transportation corridor, which laid a solid foundation for the follow-up unit commissioning and startup.
As a dedicated coal wharf of the power plant, this port is a high-pile beam plate type, with a 230-meter long, 25-meter wide platform and two bridge-style grab ship unloaders, boasting a discharge capacity of 1,250 tonnes per hour and the designed annual traffic ability of about 4.8 million tonnes.
In addition, it can meet the current bulk cargo ship loading and unloading requirements of 30,000 tonnes and 50,000 tonnes in the future.
Invested by CPIH, Southern Power Grid and Vinacomin, the VTPC1 Project is equipped with two 620 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power generating units. With a BOT investment model, its construction period is four years followed by a 25-year concession period.
