Hub Coal-Fired Power Project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Officially Inaugurated

The Hub Coal-Fired Power Project, invested and developed by China Power International Development Limited (hereinafter refers to China Power International) as a majority share-holder, held a ground-breaking ceremony in Hub Area, Baluchistan Province, Pakistan on March 21. This marked that another large energy project of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor was officially inaugurated. 

 

Hub Coal-Fired Power Project is a priority project inChina-Pakistan Economic Corridor with estimated total investment of $1.995 billion, by joint development and construction of China Power .

  

International, subsidiary of State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC), and Hub Power Company Limited (HUBCO) with 74% and 26%respectively. The project includes a 1320 MW power plant and a captive coal terminal. After the project is put into operation, the planned annual supply of electricity will be 9 TWh , which can meet the power demand of four million families in Pakistan. 

 

Federal Minister Iqbal of Planning and Development of Pakistan made a speech to congratulate on the ground-breaking of the project. He said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will help Pakistan develop energy to change the situation of energy shortage and drive the national economic development in Pakistan. He expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government and people for their trust and assistance to Pakistan.
