Haiyang Nuclear Power Unit 1 Completed Initial Turbine Roll-up by Non-nuclear Steam
Source:Writer:Date:19/01/2017

AP1000 units housed project Haiyang Nuclear Power Unit 1 completed its all tests of initial turbine roll-up by non-nuclear steam at 15:33 on November 26. The tests showed that performance and parameters of main steam turbine generator meet the design requirements, marking a successful initial turbine roll-up by non-nuclear steam for Haiyang Nuclear Power Unit 1.

The turbine roll-up by non-nuclear steam is the first linkage test made to nuclear island and conventional island, which is powered by the steam generated by primary pump to roll up the units to rated speed (1500rpm). Non-nuclear steam roll-up is to discover the problem existing in the course of units installation and take corrective measures to reduce tests after loading fuel and pressure on progress, shorten test duration and create favorable conditions for going online ahead of schedule.

The roll-up test lasted more than five hours starting from 10:15 am on November 26, which experienced two accelerations. The first acceleration happened at 400rpm to have low-speed warm-up and completed medium-speed warm-up at 1060rpm respectively. Rotor eccentricity inspection, local and remote manual shutdown, friction check, vibration monitoring, test on self-balancing of rotating speed were conducted in the course of roll-up. The second acceleration happened at the rated speed of 1500rpm. Important tests such as HOLD, vibration monitoring, main steam valve switching, GV speed adjustment, OPC test, PMS shutdown, DAS shutdown, fuel pump automatic start-up and stop were conducted in the course of roll-up. All tests meet design requirements, and vibration level of steam turbine generating units is satisfactory.

To guarantee tests be conducted smoothly, Shandong Nuclear Power, State Nuclear Power Engineering, Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute and other related units, based on instructions of the Hot Functional Test Command Office and successful experience of Sanmen Nuclear Power Unit 1 on initial turbine roll-up by non-nuclear steam, made sufficient preparations and detailed test programs, conducted several simulations, knew all test procedures well, had good understanding about test risk and emergency response, carried on related work strictly in accordance with required procedures, work closely with each other during the tests and maintained consistent and smooth operations.

Hot functional tests for Sanmen and Haiyang Nuclear Power Unit 1 are underway currently on a tight schedule. Steam turbine generating unit roll-up by non-nuclear steam is very important for hot functional test, which not only facilitates progress of hot functional test, but also impels construction of projects which apply the third generation nuclear power technology.
