On July 9, 2015, EMBA Electricity Production Inc. (EMBA), a Turkish subsidiary of Shanghai Electric Power (SEP), gained the Construction and Generation Licence for the Hunutlu Coal-fired Power Plant from the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority, marking the project’s approval by the Turkish government for construction and operation.

EMBA is a joint venture among SEP (50.01%), AVIC International Project Engineering (2.99%) and Turkish partners (47%). The Hunutlu Coal-fired Power Plant is the first project EMBA developed in Turkey and will install two 660 MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired power generating units with high reliability, high performance and low emission.

As the largest Chinese enterprise’s direct investment project since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Turkey, Hunutlu Coal-fired Power Plant has received strong support from both sides.
